Natibu tee-ball league wraps up season
The Natibu Sports Association will be holding the 2014 Cover Home Tee-ball League tomorrow, Aug. 30, at the Capitol Hill Baseball Field.
Eight teams will be competing in the one-day league, which is part of NSA’s Family Fun Day festivities. The event will be held from 9am to 12 noon with the trophy presentation taking place afterwards.
Tee-ball event coordinator Claire Sablan said all kids ages 3 to 8 who participated in the games will be receiving a trophy.
“We want to teach the kids that regardless of any result, whether the other team scored more runs against them, that they are all winners. We want to teach the values of sportsmanship and fair play,” said Sablan in a telephone interview.
“We want to emphasize and also teach them the basic skills of baseball. The fundamentals of running the bases, batting, catching and throwing so from tee-ball, they can someday move up to the Saipan Little League. They have lots of time to learn and improve with their skills,” she added.
Bad Newz Braves, Little Rascalz, Little Zogai, Little Ballers, Little Rookies, Little Sluggers, Mighty Jets, and Rug Rats are the eight competing teams.
