Nakamura tosses no-hitter in Comets win

Franko Nakamura pitched a gem of a game in the Seniors division, tossing a no-hitter in guiding the Comets to a 14-0 shutout win over the Braves in Sunday’s Saipan Little League action at the Francisco M. “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

Nakamura tossed a five-inning match, striking out nine batters he faced and walking one.

The Comets tallied 14 hits and used an eight-run fourth-inning to complete the win in the shortened match.

Nakamura also scored two times in a 2-for-4 appearance at the plate with an RBI double and a triple, while Justin Lisua and J-Boy Mendiola also went 2-for-4 with the former touching home plate twice and had an RBI single while the latter made one run and had a double.

Ton Ilo, 2-for-3, had a run, three RBIs, and a two triples including a two-RBI triple in the third inning. Austin Hocog circled the bases twice and had an RBI single, in the fourth going 2-for-3.

JUNIOR DIVISION

Falcons 20, Red Sox 10

Joe Tudela was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in the Falcons’ victory over the Red Sox.

Tudela had two singles, a double, and a triple in a perfect 4-for-4 appearance at the plate. He scored three runs and had two RBIs including an RBI double in the Falcons’ 11-run third inning.

The Falcons’ bullpen—composed of Ace Evangelista and Jester Kintaro—held the Red Sox to seven earned runs on six hits fanning eight and walking nine batters.

MAJOR DIVISION

Falcons 17, Kagboys 0

Kyle Kapileo had a no-relief job on the mound in the Falcons’ shutout win over the Kagboys to improve to 3-1.

Kapileo held the Kagboys to three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in the shortened four-inning match.

Jonathan Ringuel had a perfect 3-for-3 plate appearance with a double and two runs, while Aven Evangelista went 3-for-4 with three runs and a double in the third.

Braves 21, Padres 1

Antonio Norita pitched a three-inning one-hit game giving up one run while striking out nine batters and walking one.

Anthony Dizon came in the fourth to close out for the Braves retiring Zachary Manalo, Maximus Gabionza, and Jylon Sablan, respectively.

Dizon and Josenio Alvarez both went 2-for-3 with the former scoring twice with a double and two RBIs, while the latter had a pair of singles and had three runs. Vicente Camacho also made three runs in a 2-for-4 plate appearance.

IT&E Comets 29, Jets 1

Jason Reyes pitched four no-hit innings as the IT&E Comets grounded the Jets. He struck out eight and walked three batters.

Alvin Hocog went 4-for-6 with four runs and a double while Ross Ariola, 2-for-3, had four runs and two doubles.
