Nakamura, Tilipao top Docomo Pacific golf tourney

Harry Nakamura and Louie Tilipao pulled off a close win in the Docomo Pacific Golf Classic 2017 held last Saturday on the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Nakamura and Tilipao had a net 69.80, narrowly beating the pairs of Tony Satur and David Largent and Jay Santos and Atsushi Aoki, who recorded identical net scores of 70. The winning pair fired a gross 65, built around their 5-under par 31 on the front and 2-under par 34 on the back, and was the only team to post a net score of lower than 70 after deducting its -4.80 handicap.
Tilipao and Nakamura won the two-man scramble, double-peoria tournament against 40 other pairs. The duo had a double birdie on the par-5 No. 5, birdies on No. 2, 3, 4, and saved pars on No. 1, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Tilipao and Nakamura also parred the first six holes on the back nine and the No. 17, while having birdies on No. 16 and No. 18.
Meanwhile, Largent and Satur won the scorecard tiebreak for second place. The pair shot 35s on both nines for a gross and net 70 as they had 0 handicap. Santos and Aoki, who combined for 12 handicap, dropped to third as they carded 41s on both nines for a gross 82.
The Top 3 finishers received cash prizes and trophies with the champion getting $750, the runners-up taking home $500, and the third placers earning $300.
