The arrival of Dr. “Patty” to the pre-conference training of social workers, school counselors, youth workers, and administrators from Saipan, Guam, Rota, Chuuk, and Palau brought immediate laughter that took down the initial “ice” with ease.
Registration for the Micronesian Youth Services Network training exceeded its cap at 25 with 50. This is truly a demonstration of needs to continue with professional development if we want our young people to move forward with developing the CNMI and the region.
The Positive Youth Development for the two-day pre-conference training focused on helping the youth create their own positive future story. The heart of the curriculum is to focus attention and the “spot light” on the youth and help them design their own personal blueprint and help develop the intrinsic motivation for the young mind to make wiser and healthier choices in their behavior, their education and their choices in friends.
