On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the Million Dollar Scholars, in partnership with the Marianas Young Professionals, will be hosting the first Million Dollar Scholars Decision Day at the Hyatt Regency Saipan, from 6pm to 9pm.

The community’s young scholars will announce their colleges of choice and briefly explain why they chose those schools.

“Decision Day” happens every May 1 and is known in higher education as the last day students can choose which college they would like to attend in the fall.

This year will be the first time Decision Day will be held in the CNMI, and MYPRos and MDS will be honoring students by hosting an event to celebrate their decision to continue their education.

MDS is expecting 40-50 scholars to be in attendance, as well as their family and friends.

“We’re trying to sell 175 tickets at the door to ensure all our students who are announcing this monumental decision for their life will be able to attend,” said Events Committee chair Monique Sablan

Tickets to the event, which costs $30, will offset the cost of students attending.

MDS chair and founder Gerald Van Gils is hoping this event will encourage more students to return to the CNMI post-college graduation. “Our efforts aim to boost the morale of our scholars and inspire a sense of community belonging, which will help motivate the students to return home after completing their degrees. We hope to make this a an annual event for MDS and inspire more of our youth to pursue higher education.”

Tickets to the event are $30 and will be sold at the door, but RSVP online at the following link to reserve your seat: http://mypros.org/rsvpmaker/1st-million-dollar-scholars-decision-day-event-2018-2018-05-01/
