MyPros celebrates first anniversary
Series of young professional development events this week
Ahead of a spectacular first year anniversary event this Saturday, the Marianas Young Professional, or MyPros, has scheduled a series of events this week to promote the continued professional growth of young people in the local community.
Today, Monday April 25, a “Young Professionals Week Proclamation” signing event will be held at the Office of the Governor’s conference room at 9am, followed by a round-table discussion with Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, also the youngest sitting governor in the nation.
On Tuesday, MyPros will conduct a legislative presentation to lawmakers on what’s needed for young professionals to succeed, what resources are necessary to elevate millennial into higher paying positions, and how the community can better support burgeoning professionals and young entrepreneurs, among other salient topics.
On Wednesday, April 27, MyPros will hold a workshop focused on careers and resume writing, among others. The workshop—located at the Joeten Kiyu Public Library and starting at 5:30pm—is suited for anyone who is interested in self-assessing their skills, strengths, and goals.
Free professional photos for attendees are also available from 5pm to 5:45pm by local photographer Daisuke Yanai.
On Thursday, April 28, young professionals will visit school campuses and designated classrooms to share their journeys and/or talk to junior high and high school students about what students envision the future of the CNMI to look like and what they can accomplish together.
On Friday, April 29, the Team MYPros will show their team spirit and join the fight against cancer in the first ever “Rock Paper Scissors” Tournament. Flyers, drinks, and MYPros “Cheer Gear” will be provided. The event will be held at the Beach Road Atkins Kroll intersection from 4:30pm to 6pm.
And last but not least, MYPros will host “Garden Masquerade 1 Year Anniversary Event,” on Saturday, April 30 at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
One year ago, MYPros emerged as a non-profit organization with a mission to “connect passionate young professionals with opportunities to grow and engage socially, professionally, and civically for the benefit of the Commonwealth.”
Since then, MyPros has been working to achieve its mission, guided by its passion for the CNMI and its potential as a collective group in effectuating changes in the island community.
MyPros is proud of what they’ve been able to do together so far, and are excited about the growth and change that 2016 can bring for MYPros, and the CNMI as a whole.
