MVA’S International Festival of Cultures in September

Share

The Marianas Visitors Authority will launch the International Festival of Cultures this September as a new annual signature event of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The festival will be held every Saturday evening at Paseo de Marianas on Saipan and will celebrate the cultural diversity of the Northern Mariana Islands, with special emphasis on the indigenous cultures of Micronesia.

The MVA is seeking representative groups of different cultures to participate in planning for the event. Representative groups may contact MVA community projects specialist Ryan Calvo at rcalvo@mymarianas.com or at 664-3210 for more information. The last day to sign up to participate is July 31, 2014, by 5pm.

“One of the beauties of the Northern Marianas is our rich ethnic diversity, and the International Festival of Cultures will be an opportunity to showcase that to our visitors,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “In general, fewer people travel to the Northern Marianas during the month of September, so we anticipate this new signature event will also help stimulate travel during the month, as the Taste of the Marianas does in May.”

The festival will include food sales beginning at 5pm and live cultural entertainment from 6pm to 11pm. Admission is free. (MVA)
