On Nov. 16-19, 2017, the Marianas Visitors Authority participated in the 2017 Mode Tour Travel Mart, an annual travel fair organized by the second largest major wholesaler in Korea.
Joined by six hotel partners—Aqua Resort Club, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kensington Hotel Saipan, Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, and Saipan World Resort—the MVA had a pavilion-style booth that included a lounge venue for business meetings and media interviews. The pavilion also featured several large, LED screens displaying images and videos to promote the beauty, culture, history, attractions, and cuisine of the Marianas to both industry partners and the general public.
Over 350 figures in the travel industry, from oversea tourism representatives to airlines, hotels, attractions and industry partners in 55 countries participated in 2017 Mode Tour Travel Mart.
“Through this travel mart, we were able to introduce the properties, services and products of the Marianas to potential visitors,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “As a result, more than 800 people booked Marianas package tour products, and we expect more ad exposure as a result of our participation.”
The four-day event drew over 73,800 visitors. To advertise the event and increase sales of tour products, Mode Tour offered special prices for tour products only available at the fair. More than 25,000 visitors purchased Mode Tour’s travel products, representing an increase of 40 percent from $20 million in 2016 to $28 million in 2017. (MVA)
