MVA launches new promotion with Japan’s Rakuten

The Marianas feature in leading Japanese online shopping site Rakuten rolled out last Jan. 31, featuring a “3-day Holiday in The Marianas.”

The promotion urges customers to watch the Marianas Visitors Authority’s new “The Marianas” video, tweet on Twitter what they want to do in the islands, and then book hotel rooms via Rakuten Travel. In doing so, customers will earn Rakuten shopping points.

“Our new promotion with Rakuten allows customers to help us promote some of the most popular activities in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, such as enjoying the beautiful ocean, enjoying marine activities, feeling nature or local life, and learning about our history and culture,” said MVA Marketing manager Broc Calvo. “These are some of the unique attractions our islands offer, and we welcome the Twitter buzz we are receiving in Japan through this promotion.”

Rakuten, also known as the “Amazon of Japan, “is the largest e-commerce site in Japan, operating in 29 countries and regions and offering financial technology, digital content and communications services to over 1 billion members around the world. Its services include online shopping, media, travel reservations, and marketing and data analysis.

The Marianas promotion at https://special.infoseek.co.jp/event/mariana/will continue through March 24,2018. (PR)
