Moving forward with the revitalization of the Marianas tourism industry following Super Typhoon Yutu in October 2018, the Marianas Visitors Authority returned to the Taipei International Travel Fair again this year on Nov. 23-26, 2018.
Taipei ITF is one of the biggest annual travel fair in the Asia-Pacific region and the biggest trade show combined exhibition and sales event in Taiwan.
“Since the opening of our Taiwan office several years ago, we have regularly participated in Taipei ITF to increase awareness of the Marianas and grow demand in Taiwan for our destination,” said MVA deputy managing director Judy Torres, who led the MVA delegation at the fair. “All that effort is paying off, as we are now anticipating the finalization of our agreement with China Airlines to begin direct charter flights from Taiwan next year. This year’s ITF was an opportunity to share that good news with potential visitors.”
The fair was held for the first time at Nangang Exhibition Hall. Part of the American Pavilion, MVA’s booth used the underwater photography of Marianas Ocean Tourism Ambassador Yorko Summer, who also attended the event to help promote the islands to the public, and Taiwan’s growing number of dive enthusiasts. Intern to the Marianas Min Chen also attended.
At its booth, the MVA staff distributed brochures, answered questions, and shared information about Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. The MVA also met with charter airline representatives and travel agents to discuss details of the upcoming charter flights. (MVA)
