The Marianas Visitors Authority reached out to 72,000 visitors at the 13th Shanghai World Travel Fair on May 19-22, 2016, showcasing the abundant tourism resources and destination attractions of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
Through its Shanghai office, the MVA collaborated with Century Tours and Dynasty Holiday on a joint NMI pavilion at the event. As the leading deals-oriented fair in the Yangtze River Delta region, it attracted over 750 exhibitors from 50 countries and regions, 12,000 trade and media visitors and about 60,000 public visitors to Shanghai Exhibition Center.
“As the MVA shared last week, the Northern Mariana Islands now ranks in the Top 5 in a
nation-wide market survey of ‘Top 100 Most Desirable Destinations in the World’ conducted by the China National Tourism Administration in May 2016,” said MVA managing director Chris Concepcion. “This is a nod to both the many appeals of our islands, as well as the hard work of our offices promoting the destination. Our strong showing at the Shanghai World Travel Fair only adds to the message that Saipan, Tinian, and Rota is a beautiful place to visit.”
Six performers sent from Saipan to Shanghai demonstrated indigenous dances and authentic Chamorro culture of the NMI. Their presence attracted many professional and consumer visitors and contributed to huge destination awareness during the three-day travel event.
The MVA was also joined by Best Sunshine International, Ltd. and Pacific Islands Club Saipan in meeting potential travel trade partners and promoting their high-end properties.
