The Marianas Visitors Authority joined the 2019 Hana International Travel Show on June 7-9, 2019, in Gyeonggi province, Korea.
Organized by Hana Tour, the major wholesaler in Korea, HITS gathered tourism authorities, airlines, hotels, attractions and other industry partners to introduce their products and services to business partners and interested travelers from the public.
Hana Tour also offered its tour products at a special price at the fair, which attracted more than 50,000 people. About 500 attendees booked Marianas package tours during the three-day event.
“The MVA provided an interactive booth for HITS attendees featuring beautiful images of the Marianas and some interesting activities,” said MVA deputy managing director Judy C. Torres. “Although this year’s show was a day shorter and has less attendance than last year, bookings to the Marianas were nearly the same, percentage-wise, so we are satisfied with the outcome. We are especially grateful for the added presences of several our Marianas tourism partners who joined us to promote their products and services. Their participation provided a larger impact at the event in promoting the Marianas.”
Participating tourism partners had their own booths at the show and included Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Saipan World Resort, Grandvrio Resort Saipan, Kanoa Resort, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, and Kensington Hotel Saipan.
The MVA provided tour information and discussed promotional opportunities with Hana Tour branch agents on the B2B day on June 7. The MVA’s booth featured an Information Zone and an Event Zone. The Information Zone included an image of Banzai Cliff and Saipan’s blue ocean, along with screening of various promotional videos and TV shows filmed in the Marianas. An online quiz event was simultaneously conducted during the video screenings. In the Event Zone, a themed café served coconut coffee or lime juice to visitors who followed the MVA’s official Korea Instagram account. Also, the specially developed online quiz “Let’s Go Marianas” was accessible via QR code to all visitors to the booth. All quiz participants received hand fans, and 15 winners were selected to additional prizes. 2018 Miss Marianas Celine Cabrera also joined the event to promote the destination.
The MVA’s activities gathered a large amount of attention from consumers who visited the exhibition. Throughout the travel show, 594 visitors participated in the ‘Let’s Go Marianas’ quiz event, and the MVA gained 800 additional followers to its Korea Instagram account. (MVA)
