To enhance visitors’ experience at the Grotto, the Marianas Visitors Authority has recently completed the addition of a second lookout point at the popular scenic spot.
As part of its ongoing destination enhancement, the MVA has been making a series of improvements to major tourism sites, including the Last Command Post, Banzai Cliff, and Bird Island Lookout. The enhancement also includes projects for the islands of Rota and Tinian.
“The addition of another lookout at Grotto not only allows more visitors to see the beauty of the site, but more importantly, it now provides a safe point for them to do so,” said MVA community projects manager Martin Duenas.
The Grotto, a popular spot for diving and swimming, is a collapsed cavern with underwater passages leading to the open ocean. It is one of the most-visited sites in Saipan, attracting thousands of visitors each month.
This week the MVA is also overseeing the cleaning and re-painting of the World War II tank located on Beach Rd. and the re-painting of the adjacent bathroom along the Saipan Beach Pathway. Other upcoming projects include repair of the Grotto and Ladder Beach stairways and smoothing of the trail leading to the second lookout point at Mt. Tapochao. (MVA)
