MVA general membership meeting this Thursday

The Marianas Visitors Authority will hold its semi-annual general membership meeting on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Royal Taga Ballroom, Saipan World Resort at 10am. Registration will begin at 9:30am. In order to ensure quorum, all members are reminded to RSVP by Monday’s deadline, June 20.

The guest speaker will be Michael Merner, chairman of AVIAREPS Marketing Garden, which operates MVA’s representative offices in Japan, Korea, China, Russia, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Merner will update members on key trends in each market over the last year and the outlook for arrivals in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota for the coming year. The MVA’s recovery plan for the crucial Japan market will be share, as well as how the MVA is developing new growth markets in the Philippines and Hong Kong.

Elections for four positions on the MVA Board of Directors will also be held. Members voting by proxy must fill out a proxy form prior to the meeting. The nominees are: Kazusuke Fukuju, Pacific Micronesian Tours; Jerry Tan, Tan Holdings Corp.; Christopher Nelson, KMCV, LLC; Vicky Benavente, Pacific Islands Club Saipan; Nick Nishikawa, Hyatt Regency Saipan; Wendi Herring, Kanoa Resort; Gloria Cavanagh, Mariana Resort & Spa; Michael Demapan, Saipan Stevedore; Paula Monk, United Airlines; Dennis Yoshimoto, Micronesian Brokers Inc.; Edvon Sze, Alter City Group; Elitza Stoilova, Mango Resort; James Nelson, Sorenson Pacific Broadcasting; and Alex Youn, AC Pacific LLC/I LOVE SAIPAN. Nominations are now closed.

The meeting cost is $16/person for MVA members and non-members and includes lunch.

The MVA welcomes new businesses, agencies and individuals who want to actively participate in the Northern Marianas’ top industry as MVA members. Membership is $100 annually and includes detailed visitor statistics each month; opportunities to join promotional events targeting Japan, Korea, and other markets; the opportunity to promote member services on the five language-specific websites of the MVA; and more.
