In the second of an ongoing cycle of familiarization tours for Japanese travel agents, the Marianas Visitors Authority and Delta Air Lines hosted 10 agents on Oct. 14-17, 2017.
The tour allowed the Marianas ambassadors to gain firsthand knowledge of the islands to better sell the destination to potential visitors. Participating travel agencies were JTB World Vacations, Inc., Tobu Top Tours Co., Veltra, KNT-CT Holding Co., United Tours, Odakyu Travel, ST World Inc., KEIO Travel, and Travel Plaza International. The group was also joined by a representative from Delta.
“We’re very pleased to have a continuing strong relationship with Delta Air Lines, which provides critical daily service to the Marianas from Tokyo,” said MVA acting managing director Judy Torres. “Through this three-part series of travel agent [familiarization] tours, we are working to revive the Japan market by giving influential tour agents a chance to experience the Marianas for themselves and become better equipped to develop new tour products and sell the destination. There’s nothing more convincing that having first-hand experience.”
The group inspected accommodations at Mariana Lounge, Grandvrio Resort, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Aqua Resort Club Saipan, Kanoa Resort, Kensington Resort Hotel, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Imperial Pacific Resort Hotel, Saipan World Resort, and Pacific Islands Club Saipan.
Dining was experienced at Hard Rock Café Saipan, Bubba Gump Shrimp, and Casa Urashima.
Additional activities included an eco-adventure tour with Marianas Trekking, marine sports on Managaha Island, Sea Touch, a Marpi sightseeing tour, and Joyful Dinner Show at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.
The group lodged at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan during their tour. Nine travel agents participated in the first tour in September, and another tour is scheduled for Dec. 1- 4, 2017. (MVA)
