The 18th Tinian Municipal Council confirmed on Dec. 23, 2021, the appointment of Megan C. Mendiola and Melanie B. Cruz to the Tinian Municipal Scholarship Board and Public Land Advisory Board, respectively.
The two were appointed to their new positions by Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan.

According to a Tinian Municipal Council news release yesterday, one testimony that stood out from the public was offered by Felipe Aquino, who stated that he was very proud to see the two return home and show a willingness to help the community. “I am so happy to see that this appointment took place, and I urge the council to confirm these two ladies so we can hold them as examples for our other kids, still abroad, to see that they have something to come back to and contribute to our community,” he said.
Municipal council member Juanita M. Mendiola, who chairs the council’s Executive Appointments and Government Investigation Committee, said: “I am very proud of our kids coming back home and wanting to be a part of building our community, and I am especially proud that these two are young women.”
Municipal council chair Joseph E. Santos thanked the two for volunteering their services to the community between being parents and full-time employees.
Council vice chair Thomasa Palacios-Mendiola is still under quarantine and wasn’t able to attend the confirmation hearing, but expressed her support of confirming the two appointees. (Saipan Tribune)
