Nine Young Filipino women have already signed up to compete in the Miss Pusong Pinoy, a beauty pageant slated for next month’s Valentine festivities organized by the United Filipino Organization for the Filipino community on Saipan.
UFO secretary Annamae Adaza, who is also the event’s program committee co-chair, said yesterday that this is the first time that we will be holding a Valentine beauty pageant and many teenagers and young ladies are excited to participate.”
The event will be held at the Civic Center grounds in Susupe on Feb. 12. The beauty-and-brains competition is open to young females age 16 to 25 years old.
According to Adaza, some of their contestants were muses for basketball teams that joined previous UFO leagues.
“We would like to have about 10 to 12 candidates at most,” added Adaza.
Adaza said pageant contenders will be competing in four different categories: sportswear, talent portion, formal wear, and question-and-answer.
She said the community can look forward to exciting production numbers from the candidates who will be handled by pageant coordinator Joel Vallega.
Meanwhile, Adaza is inviting food and non-food vendors who want to sell their products or merchandise at the event to sign up now. Slots for the 10×20 tent space are still available at $50 for food and $40 for non-food vendors. These slots will be raffled off to promote fairness and avoid favoritism.
“Please come and support Pusong Pinoy. It’s going to be a really fun and exciting event for all Filipinos on island,” she added.
