The Marianas Racing Association will be sending a group of 28 of its finest racers to represent the CNMI at the Smokin’ Wheels race event in Guam this month.

“The Smokin’ Wheels event is one of the most significant motocross events in the region, and we are thrilled to have a strong representation from the CNMI,” said MRA president Charles V. Cepeda.

Guam International Racing Motorcycle Association president Jeff Rios extended an invitation to MRA to race in the 40th APL Smokin’ Wheels, Guam’s premier motor sport event.

MRA’s 28 racers along with top racers from Guam, the U.S., Japan, and New Zealand will go head-to-head to be crowned top racer in the different race categories.

This group of 28 dedicated and passionate racers are ready to show the world what they can do. They are a mixture of experienced veterans and young up-and-comers. They have been practicing tirelessly and strengthening their stamina to compete at this high level. Their confidence, superior skills, and training will be a force to be reckoned with.

“It’s an honor for MRA to have the opportunity to showcase in front of the world the talent and skills of our CNMI racers amongst a diverse audience and international racers,” said Cepeda. “We have seen how hard these racers have been working to prepare for this event, and we are extremely proud of each and every one of them as they race for the top spot.”

MRA is committed to promote safe and competitive racing events to our local communities, and firmly believe that motorsport is a powerful tool of healthy competition, building camaraderie, and creating lasting memories.

A huge turnout of motorsport enthusiasts, both local and regional, are expected at the 40th Smokin’ Wheels event which will be held on April 21, 22, and 23, 2023 at the Guam International Raceway.

Fans will witness the excitement and adrenaline rush of motorsports.  Many families of MRA racers will also be traveling to Guam to support and cheer CNMI racers.  Despite the fierce competition, MRA looks forward to forging new relationships and friendships with fellow racers and fans.

The support from APL and Monster Energy Drinks enabled the successful organization of Smokin’ Wheels, which was designed to bring together motorsport enthusiasts, promote safe driving, and celebrate the fast-paced culture of racing. An amazing event that would not have been made possible without our sponsors’ and their generous support.

MRA is beyond grateful to APL, Monster Energy, Saipan Shipping Co.. Saipan Stevedore Company, Inc., Seabridge, CTSI, Commonwealth Racing Federation, and the Marianas Visitors Authority for their unwavering support and look forward to continuing working relationships in future motorsport events.

MRA expresses sincere gratitude to Jeff Rios and the Guam International Racing Motorcycle Association for their hospitality and support; extending an invitation for the chance to race alongside some of the best racers in the Pacific region; and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
