MPU leads co-ed U12, boys U15
MP United retained the No. 1 spot in the co-ed U12 division of the 2015 NMIFA Youth Spring League following a 3-0 victory over Paire Football Club last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

MP United notched its third win in as many games to lead Matansa (1-1-1 win/draw/loss), Tan Holdings (1-1-2), Paire (1-0-2), and Kanoa (0-2-1).
Dylan Cho, Grafton Howard, and Rintaro Miyawaki scored one goal apiece in MP United’s shutout of Paire.
In the other co-ed U12 division match, Tan Holdings finally entered the win column after easing past Matansa FC, 4-1.
Taka Borja starred in the win, as he scored a hat-trick with his three goals recorded in succession in the second half. Christian Puri tallied the other goal for Tan Holdings, while Justin Charles Achas scored the lone goal for Matansa.
BOYS U15
MP United 9, Matansa 0
MP United stretched its winning run to four after whipping Matansa (2-0-2) last Saturday at the Hopwood pitch.
Sunjoon Tenorio led MP United’s demolition of Matansa with his hat-trick, while Edwin Kim and Oliver Lee chipped in two apiece. Go Sekiguchi and Grant Eichenberger added one goal each.
MP United matched Tan Holdings 1’s 4-0 mark and the former won the tiebreak for first place in the division with its higher goal difference 33-31.
Tan Holdings 1 11, Kanoa 0
Tan Holdings maintained its perfect record after crushing Kanoa FC (0-0-4) in the second game last Friday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
Anthony Fruit and Louie Calayag registered three goals apiece for Tan Holdings 1, Albert Bergancia contributed two, and Mark Esalan, Thaiphi Austria, and Rico Reyes tallied one each.
Paire 5, Tan Holdings 2 1
In the first game last Friday, Paire coasted past Tan Holdings 2.
Paire (2-0-2) got its offensive game going in the second half to hand Tan Holdings 2 its fourth loss in as many games. Paire made only one goal in the first half off Harry Huh’s shot before breaking the game wide open in the second after drawing a pair of goals from Dai Podziewski and one each from Cole Chambers and Logan Mister. John Guiller Canape drilled the only goal for Tan Holdings 2.
GIRLS U15
Shirley’s 2, Paire 1
Shirley’s nipped Paire last Saturday at the Hopwood pitch to stay at the top of the team standings in the girls U15 division.
Shirley’s now has 3-1-0 mark, prevailing against Matansa (3-1-0) in the tiebreak with its more goals scored, 11-8.
Diana Maniacop added two goals to Shirley’s total after scoring in the 40th and 46th minute of their game against Paire (1-0-3). Paire avoided a shutout after getting a goal from Guinevere Borja in the 66th minute.
Matansa 4, Kanoa 1
Matansa matched Shirley’s third win after outclassing Kanoa.
Angel Sally was unstoppable in last weekend’s match, as she knocked in all four goals for Matansa. She delivered three of them in the first half and completed her outstanding performance with another goal in the closing minutes of the match.
Princess Alcantara put Kanoa (0-0-4) in the board with her goal in the second half.
MP United 2, Tan Holdings 1
In the final game in the division last Saturday, MP United nosed out Tan Holdings.
Gillian Villagomez posted the twin goals for MP United, with the go-ahead shot coming in six minutes before the match wrapped up. She logged her first one in the 62nd minute to force a deadlock, 1-all.
Neither team scored in the first half before Chloe Salvosa broke the ice in the 54th and lifted Tan Holdings to a shaky lead.
Tan Holdings and MP United hold similar 2-0-2 records, but the former is ahead in the team standings, occupying the third spot with its higher goal difference, 3 against -1.
BOYS U18
Tan Holdings 5, Paire 1
Tan Holdings still leads the division following a victory against Paire last Saturday at the Oleai pitch.
Sean Perez anchored the win with his three straight goals, while Yoshi Mafnas registered the other goal for Tan Holdings, which got an own goal off a miscue from Paire’s J.C. Piring.
Incidentally, Piring was also the only player to hit the board for Paire (0-0-3).
Tan Holdings remained unbeaten in three games to lead MP United (2-0-1).
MP United 3, Matansa 1
MP United kept Tan Holdings within striking distance after beating Matansa in the other division match last weekend.
Three different players scored for MP United with Tenorio drawing first blood in the 34th minute and Enrico del Rosario and Dakota Hall earning the last two in the 76th and 81st, respectively. Matansa (1-0-2) got its lone goal from Evan Belcher.
