MP United Football Club made it two in a row following a 4-1 victory over Matansa FC in their co-ed U13A division game in the 2018 NMIFA Fall Youth League last Saturday at the Koblerville Elementary School Field.
With its 2-0 record, MP United, which coasted past Kanoa FC-2 in the opening week of the league, 7-3, earned the solo lead in the five-team field. Matansa, on the other hand, has yet to break into the win column, as it drew its opener (versus TanHoldings) in the division.
Dev Bachani led MP United’s easy triumph over Matansa after drilling a pair of goals, while Richard Castro scored the other goal for the winning squad. MP United was awarded an own goal in the 40th minute to take the 2-1 lead after Matansa tied the match in the 28th minute off Jose Rafael Lopez’s shot. Earlier in the 21st minute, Bachani broke the ice and then got his second goal in the 41st minute to stretch MP United’s lead before Castro closed out for the squad with his goal in the 45th.
In the other division match, Kanoa FC-1 had a rousing season debut after crushing TanHoldings, 8-1.
Daniel Mar Pablo registered two goals for Kanoa-1, which had six more players making it to the board in the team’s first game of the season. Jim Kurt Maniago started things off for the on target Kanoa-1 with his goal in the 12th minute, while just two minutes later, it was Dylan Mister’s turn to score. Kanoa-1 went on to notch five more goals in the first half—courtesy of Pablo (two), John Mark Anastacio, Markus Toves, and Andrew Sablan, for a commanding 7-0 advantage.
Sean Gil delivered the last goal for Kanoa-1 in the 40th minute, while Anthony John Bergancia prevented a shutout loss for TanHoldings when he found the back of the net in the 45th.
After its impressive win last week, Kanoa-1 will return to the Koblerville pitch and take on sister squad Kanoa-2 in the first game at 1pm. In the other match, MP United aims to make it three in a row when it collides against TanHoldings at 2:20pm.
