The Norman Del Rosario-coached MP United Silver capped its perfect season after shutting out Matansa Football Club last Saturday, 5-0. Five different players scored for MPU Silver in its last game of the season with Jehn Joyner and Ryota Ito drilling one goal each in the first half. In the second half, it was John Taisacan, Daniel Lim, and Dakota Hall’s turn to light up the scoreboard.

Also part of the five-time champion squad are Enrico Del Rosario, Kennedy Izuka, Jordan Butcher-Wade, Sam Soledad, Julian Pellegrino, John Masga, Greg Sablan, Jeong Ho Kim, and Brian Lee.

MP United completed the two round-robin season with a 10-0-0 win-draw-loss card, posted a whopping 120 goals, and allowed only three goals. It scored in double digits in seven of their 10 games with their most goals (16) logged on May 12 against Tan Holdings FC.

“The perfect season of MPU U15 Silver is a product of our hard work, sacrifices and team work. Before every season starts, we always set target/goals and I can proudly say we hit it (120 goals in 10 games). All the things we worked on during the training season, practice, and team bonding really helped us a lot,” Del Rosario said.

“As for the next season, I can say we will have a great chance since most of the boys will still be eligible for the age group and we may have some additional players. The team will continue training during the summer, as we are holding a MPU Summer Soccer Camp scheduled for June 29 to July 26 with former NMI national coach and men’s national team member Nick Swaim and Rudy del Rosario (coach of the Philippine Homeless World Cup Team) handling the camp,” del Rosario added when asked about MPU Silver’s chances for a sixth title.

Paire FC 4, Shirley’s FC 0

In other results last Saturday, Paire FC blanked Shirley’s, 4-0, to finish second in the six-team field.

Paire had a 7-1-2 record in the double round spring season, making 55 goals and allowing only 30 to its opponent, to edge Matansa (6-1-3) for the runner-up honors.

Brothers John and Daniel Auther scored in Paire’s first and last goal in their final game of the season, while Joel Fruit and Jeff Cheon also added one goal each.

Shirley’s completed the season at fourth place with its 3-0-7 card and tallied 12 goals.

Tan Holdings 3, MP United Blue 0

In the third and last game of the season, Tan Holdings was awarded the win via forfeit against MP United Blue.

Tan Holdings was ranked fifth after the season with its 2-1-7 slate and 14 goals for and 71 goals against, while MP United Blue finished the competition winless with one draw and had only five goals in 10 games.
