MP United eases past Paire
MP United Football Club bagged its second win in as many games in the boys U18 division of the 2015 NMIFA Youth Fall League following a 5-1 triumph over Paire FC last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

MP United, which won its season debut against Matansa FC last Oct. 10, 2-0, made it two in a row after drawing goals from four different players in the second half.
The last 45 minutes of play started with MP United facing a 0-1 halftime deficit, as Paire lit up the board first off Saixian Bagsic’s goal in the seventh minute. Keeanu Diaz tied the match with his shot in the 53rd minute and then gave MP United the upper hand after getting his second goal five minutes later.
Moris Villanueva made it a 3-1 advantage with his conversion in the 68th minute, while Greg Sablan extended the lead to three after finding the back of the net two minutes later. Sunjoon Tenorio closed out for the Wes Bogdan-coached MP United with his goal in the 73rd.
In the other boys U18 pairing, Tan Holdings also earned its second victory in as many matches after slipping past Matansa, 2-1.
Sean Perez and Joel Fruit scored the pair of goals for Tan Holdings, which came from an easy 10-0 triumph over Paire in the season opener.
Perez put Tan Holdings on the board in the 35th minute, while Fruit registered his lone goal in the match in the 62nd. A Chad Shankweiler goal in the 63rd minute moved Matansa within one, but Tan Holdings’ defense held on on tight in the end to keep the lead and the close victory.
BOYS U15
Kanoa 7, Tan Holdings-2 0
In the first game at the Oleai pitch, Kanoa barged into the win column after shutting down Tan Holdings-2.
Andreau Omelau powered Kanoa to its first win after scoring four consecutive goals, while Brian Lubao, Kirt Andon, and Merrick Toves chipped in one apiece. Omelau’s string of goals began in the 19th minute, while his next two came in the 23rd and 27th. He hit another one early in the second half to help Kanoa recover from its opening loss to Tan Holdings-1.
MP United 24, Shirley’s FC 0
In the other boys U15 tiff at the Oleai pitch, MP United clobbered Shirley’s to improve to a 2-0 record.
MP United, which won its first game against Paire, 6-0, had another walk in the park versus Shirley’s (0-2), drilling one goal after another. MP United had 12 goals apiece in the first and second half.
Incidentally, there were also 12 different players who scored for MP United. Edwin Kim, Michael Lee, and Cody Leon had three apiece, while Oliver Lee, Kevin Park, and Tenorio tallied two each. Joshua Abragan, Clayton Izuka, James Kim, Alex Park, Go Sekiguchi, and Seung Mock You were the other scorers for MP United, which got an own goal in the second half.
Paire 3, Matansa 2
Over at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, Paire edged Matansa to gain its first win in two games.
Kaden Church had a brace for Paire, including the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute. Church’s other goal was recorded in the 61st minute and gave Paire a 2-1 advantage. Dai Podziewski knocked in the first goal for Paire four minutes into the second half to even up the match, 1-1.
John Joseph Bucayo posted the first goal for Matansa in the 20th and he also nailed the team’s other goal in the 69th minute to force the second deadlock in the match before Church put Paire back on top two minutes later.
