Sidney Bobby A. Aldan was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center after he sustained a laceration below the right knee, deep scratches to the left arm, and contusions on his forehead.
Aldan was issued a traffic citation.
Police officer Pete Seman, the driver of the patrol car, refused medical treatment, according to Department of Public Safety police spokesman Travis Hurst.
Hurst said the patrol car and Aldan’s Honda Civic DX both had damaged front end. The vehicles’ airbags deployed due to the impact.
Police investigation showed that DPS Central Dispatch received information from Seman about a vehicular crash at Thousand Curves in Puerto Rico on Saturday at 8:47pm.
Police determined that the crash occurred when Aldan’s car had a steering malfunction, causing it to veer onto the oncoming lane, colliding head on with the patrol car being driven by Seman.
Seman reportedly tried to maneuver the patrol car out of the way and to the right but was unsuccessful.
Medics transported Aldan to CHC for treatment.
