The Division of Youth Services put many parent leaders center stage last Saturday, Feb. 27, with a motorcade that began at the Commonwealth Ports Authority football field.

The motorcade, which was intended to honor parent leaders in the CNMI this year, capped a series of activities DYS held last month to honor parents who take active roles in their children’s growth and learning.

The convoy started from the CPA football field and passed through As Terlaje, then along Middle Road all the way to As Matuis, then circled back via Beach Road, down to San Antonio, and finally ending up at the Koblerville Youth Center.

A total of 50 vehicles participated in the motorcade, which consisted of many parent leaders, community partners, Division of Youth Services staff and volunteers, and Miss Earth CNMI 2021.

“The goal of the motorcade was to highlight and recognize the 2021 exemplary parent leaders and celebrating them out in the community,” according to DYS administrator Vivian T. Sablan.

Sablan thanked the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ DYS Parent Leadership Month Committee Members, partners, DYS staff, and donors for the monthlong celebration.
