Motheread/Fatheread trainers widen skills

The CNMI Motheread/Fatheread Certified Parent Trainers and Story Exploring Instructor’s Meeting was held on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Herman’s Modern Bakery conference room.
The morning guest presenter was Rosalyn Ajoste, who is currently the Joeten Kiyu Public Library’s Technical Services librarian. Ajoste delighted the Motheread/Fatheread team with her informational presentation about the history of the Joeten Kiyu Public Library. She informed participants of the unique services the JKPL has to offer to the CNMI, including the E-Reader books and the Added Value 2 books, both of which further enhance one’s reading experience by combining resources from the Internet such as reading modules and links.
Ajoste also presented on the EBSCO host databases and discovery technologies, which are the most-used, premium online information resources for tens of thousands of institutions worldwide, representing millions of end-users.
The afternoon guest presenter, Lauren Francis, a teacher who hails from Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, presented on the CNMI Motheread/Fatheread website. Francis devoted more than six volunteer hours on the Motheread/Fatheread website, https://sites.google.com/site/cnmimothereadfatheread/home/.
The CNMI Motheread/Fatheread Family Literacy Program is administered by the Northern Marianas Humanities Council in partnership with the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, the Public School System, and the Joeten Kiyu Public Library. (PR)
