This Monday, July 6, is the first day for submission of nominating petition and candidacy for the upcoming Nov. 3 elections.

Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Julita Villagomez also announced yesterday that this Monday is also the last day to establish residency requirements.

Aug. 5 is the last day to submit nominating petitions and candidacies.

Villagomez encouraged interested candidates and those who want to establish residency requirements to come in early before the deadline to avoid jampacking the CEC office in Susupe. She said people should be wearing masks and practice proper social distancing at the CEC office.

She said interested candidates who will be sending other people to turn in their nominating petitions should make sure to have the complete package, as with the case of some candidates from Tinian and Rota who would let others hand-carry their nominating petition package to CEC.

Those who want to establish residency requirements need to go to CEC and bring a passport or birth certificate.

Villagomez said last day of registration to vote is Sept. 4.

She said CEC commissioners will hold a board meeting on July 8.

The position for the U.S. delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives and 34 other government positions, excluding three from the Judiciary for retention, are up for grabs in the coming elections on Nov. 3.

It used to be called the mid-term elections but is now referred to as a general elections.
