Mommyla Spa and Salon in Garapan will be opening its doors today, just in time for Valentine’s Day, to offer unique beauty and wellness services at reasonable prices in an environment where the health and safety of its customers are its utmost priority.
For now, Mommyla offers hair care that includes haircut, coloring, treatment, hair extension etc. nail care , skin care, massage, and make-up. In the pipeline are eyebrow microblading and eyelash extensions. The salon welcomes you with vibrant colors balanced with light tones and furniture that invites you to relax and regain your energy.
General manager Debralyn David Santos said the vision for Mommyla is to be a full-service spa and salon where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. “Our services will be affordable because our mission is to give customer satisfaction by giving excellent service and great salon experience. …We adhere to the health and safety protocols in the CNMI so people will not hesitate allotting time for self-care,” Santos added.
Mommyla is located beside Salty’s Bar and Grill in Garapan, right in front of the ocean. This makes it the perfect spot to unwind and get pampered, said Santos. “What makes us unique is that our location is right at the beachfront—blue ocean, nice breeze, and away from the busy road. This is perfect for relaxation and with any of our services, it is easy to feel pampered. It is like a mini-vacation or escape from work or school,” Santos said.
The name Mommyla is a portmanteau of the words “mommy” and “lola,” which is the Filipino term for grandmother. Santos explained that they came up with the name because the company’s president and proprietress, Marlyn Dougherty of Mommyla, is fondly known in the community as everybody’s mommy, and is known for her friendliness and warmth.
“We do not only want to project warmth and care in our business name but also in the many services we offer. …We have spa and salon services for now and in the future, we intend to offer barber services and retail. We intend not only to target women but all demographics because of the array of services we have,” said Santos.
2021 Miss Earth Northern Marianas Crystal Fiona Rio, who was at the soft opening of Mommyla early this month, said that going to Mommyla for self-care needs is what most women, especially mothers, need. “Whether it’s escaping a stressful job for the day, leaving the mommy duties to someone else for a few hours or just the need to let to let off a little steam, give yourself a bit of much needed loving attention at Mommyla,” she said. “No matter what state of physical or mental condition you find yourself in through all different periods of your hectic life, find time to relax, unwind and pamper yourself with one of the beauty treatments at Mommyla. …There’s all these positive and happy vibes when you feel beautiful inside and out.”
Santos said that they want every client to have a memorable visit at Mommyla. “From the moment they walk into our salon, we want them to feel happy, pampered, relaxed and go home satisfied with the service(s) they experienced. Mommyla is borne out of passion and this is the same passion we want to give back to the community through quality service and care.”
