Mobil nips Andhok’s, 76-73

Mobil fended off a second half rally by Andhok’s, 76-73, in Monday’s Garapan Basketball League – IT&E Cup matchup at the Garapan Basketball Court.
The win evened out Mobil’s win-loss card to 3-3.
Andhok’s gave Mobil hell, but fell a basket short of forcing overtime and is solemnly still in search of a win after five tries.
Meanwhile, Konflikt-IT&E (4-0) was leading the Ol’Aces (1-2), 68-66, with four minutes left in the game when rain caused an untimely stoppage of play in Monday’s second matchup.
The game was scheduled to resume at 6:15pm last night followed by Mobil squaring off against Ol’Aces at 7pm. Then Konflikt-IT&E returns to the floor to take on Andhok’s at 9pm; weather permitting.
Mobil shared the ball well at the start of the first game as a handful of players chipped in for a 14-12 edge in the opening 10 minutes.
Andhok’s Alex Lauron muscled his way for eight points in the second quarter, but Mobil buried three treys late in the period to maintain a 35-32 margin at halftime.
Mobil’s Angelo Fernando scrambled for eight markers in the first half.
Andhok’s kept grinding after the break and mounted a 51-45 comeback heading into the final period.
With Mobil’s first stringers taking a breather, Lauron led Andhok’s’ third quarter charge with seven points.
Mobil saved its best for last as Jun Estolas returned to the floor and drained a couple of early three-balls for 11 points in the final stanza that went with six big points in the clutch by teammate Larry Sharry.

Andhok’s 73 – Lauron 29, Artates 11, Tenorio 10, Montano 10, Wesley 3.
