Mobil, Joeten crush business league foes
Mobil/JP World and Joeten Enterprises crushed separate foes in the continuation of the 2015 Inter-Commercial Business Basketball League last Tuesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Mobil coasted to an easy 107-62 decision over Marpac for its second straight win, while Joeten waltzed to a 75-40 triumph against Saipan Stevedore to keep pace with the early leaders in the inaugural tournament.
Veteran Jun Estolas and youthful Prince Factor fuelled Mobil’s offense forming their team’s 1-2 scoring punch all game long.
Estolas scattered 21 points, while Factor finished with the same output and scored 6 straight markers when Mobil established some distance against a listless Marpac side.
Mobil, after posting a 26-11 spread heading into the second period, was never threatened after that and zoomed to victory to join idle Pacific Islands Club on top of the standings with 2-0 slates.
Enjoying huge leads the entire game gave Mobil coach Marlon Sison the chance to field in his shock troopers and tinker with his starting unit. He used 11 players with five turning in 9 or more points.
Mike Espinosa ended up with 19 points, while Lawrence Dikito, J.P. Jose, and Manolo Manalo added 11 markers each. Jerald Rivera was a point shy of hitting double digits with 9.
Frank Mettao led Marpac’s losing cause with 22 points, while Jay Diyco was the other player that turned in double figures with 21.
It was the same story in the first game with Joeten also pulling away in the first quarter where they limited Saipan Stevedore to only 8 points in coasting to a 75-40 win.
Saipan Stevedore showed little resistance from there on, missing a number of shots and committed a lot of turnovers against Joeten’s stifling defense.
Rocyl Ritual scored 15 while Y.J. Nakayama and Dixon Kwon chipped in 10 and 9 points apiece for Joeten. Renz Benghit, Alex Lauron, Jun Sambile, Syl Teregeyo, Ferdie Tobias, and Dean Borja combined for 36 markers.
Ronald Coloma and Mike Olaitiman were the lone bright spots for Saipan Stevedore with 20 and 10 points, respectively.
Action continues tonight with Saipan Ice & Water taking on IT&E in the 6:30pm first game, while Docomo Pacific clashes with PSS in the second match at 8pm.
