MMAC fundraisers in full swing
The Marianas March Against Cancer fundraising season is in full effect as the community’s 20 teams gear up for a full calendar of events for the next two months before the annual 12-hour event on May 11-12 at Hopwood Middle School.
“We’re in the second week of March, and our teams have already been active in their fundraising efforts. You can tell that this work means a lot to our teams and our steering committee as we get ready for the big night in May,” said MMAC 2018 committee chair Bobby Cruz.
On Thursday, March 15, Team Bodig will be holding its second coin drive at the Atkins Kroll Toyota intersection from 4pm to 6pm. They will be holding another coin drive on Thursday, April 12, at the same intersection.
On Friday, March 16, Team PSS/SPC (Public School System Central and Saipan Paddling Club) will be holding its coin drive also at the Atkins Kroll Toyota intersection from 4pm to 6pm.
On Saturday, March 17, Team NMC/LDTF (Northern Marianas College and the Lady Diann Torres Foundation) will be having its “Spike for a Cause” Volleyball Tournament at the NMC south field from 9am to 5pm. Registration is $25 per team, and the deadline to register is this Thursday, March 15, 2018. For more information, contact Queanna Sablan at queanna.sablan@marianas.edu.
On Friday, April 13, Team NMC/LDTF will have a fundraising booth at the always-exciting NMC Charter Day from 4pm to 10pm.
Also that day, Team Talaabwogh Stars will be holding a happy hour fundraiser at Joe’s Bar. More details to be provided soon.
From April 16 to April 22, Team IPI Dolphins (Imperial Pacific International and Marianas High School) will be holding its 2nd Annual “Hits for Hope” Softball Tournament at the Capital Hill Softball Field. Registration is still ongoing, but there are only 20 slots available. Entrance fee is $150, and it is on a “first come, first serve” basis. On Saturday, April 28, Team IT&E/SSHS (IT&E and Saipan Southern High School) will be holding its first annual Race for Life. The event features an exciting island scavenger hunt. More details to be provided soon.
On Sunday, April 29, Team NMC/LDTF will be holding its second annual Brunch for a Cure at Giovanni’s Restaurant of the Hyatt Regency Saipan. More details to come.
There are also several teams with special ongoing fundraising efforts.
Team Triple J Lancherus (Triple J and Chacha Oceanview Middle School) will be donating $1 for every iced tea or drink special sold in the Triple J family of restaurants: Tony Roma’s, Capriciossa, Truong’s, Surf Club, and Bubba Gump. They will also be donating $25 for every vehicle sold in the Triple J dealership.
Team NMIFA (Northern Mariana Islands Football Association), in collaboration with Shirley’s Coffee Shop, will be donating 10 cents for every iced tea sold in the restaurant’s Susupe and Garapan locations.
“March is already off to a rolling start, and we see this momentum continuing through April as well. Our teams are dedicated to this fight, and we hope their work inspires our community to join our collective fight against cancer,” said MMAC 2018 committee vice chair Carline Sablan.
