MJD Warriors, Marianas Water feted

The Amaris MJD Warriors and Amaris Marianas Water received their championship trophies during the awards ceremony for the Saipan Billiards Association Season 2019 Season held last Sunday at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan.

The Amaris MJD Warriors triumphed in the Tuesday League under the leadership of team captain Jerry Soriano. Roel Barreto, Marvin Deocares, Mervin Sahagun, Cecilio Bisana, Rey Pinangay, Simon Kapileo, and Miko Usi also played for the division champion.

Rounding out the Top 3 in the Tuesday League were the Amaris IT&E Destroyer and the Brannons Docomo Hustlers.

In the Thursday League, Amaris Marianas Water came out on top, as it was also led by Soriano. Barreto, Deocares, Sahagun, Bisana, Pinangay, and Usi completed the squad.

Brannons DECM Wizards bagged second place in the Thursday League and was followed by 9 Eleven Predators and 9 Eleven Club 88 Black Ball.

Meanwhile, the Budweiser Cup championship trophies went to Amaris IT&E Destroyer and Sands Team SCS, which ruled the Tuesday and Thursday League divisions, respectively.

Sand Team SCS players include Rowel “Cobra” Mariano, Bryan Fabre, Jerry Tiu, Ken Chen, Roy Wu, Aaron Velasco, Lisa Gomez, Daniel Miranda, Erwin Gomez, and Joseph Delos Santos. Amaris IT&E Destroyers, on the other hand, had Jeff Garcia, Nolan Cultura, Rolly Villanueva, George Lizardo, R.J. Macaranas, and Cesar Sangalang on their roster.

In other awards, Albert Pangelinan of Brannons DECM Wizards and Soriano of Amaris Tavern took the regular season MVP trophies, while Amaris Tavern’s Cecilio Bisana and Mervin Sahagun were named Finals MVP.

Amaris IT&E Destroyers’ Jeff Garcia and Rolly Villanueva took the Top Gun awards, while Randy David of the 9 Eleven Club 88 Black Ball was selected Rookie of the Year. Randy David also took the Run the Rack award, the same plum that Soriano gained.
