MP United played two games in Week 2 of the 2012 NMIFA Men’s Spring League and had mixed results.
The Typhoons started the week with a 4-0 win over Shirley’s Football Club on March 14 and then had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Matansa Football Club last Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
In its first game, MP United drew a hat-trick from Jireh Yobech to shut out Shirley’s FC. Yobech scored his first goal of the season in the 21st minute or 10 minutes after Yi Shan Wang broke the ice. The second goal came six minutes into the second half, while the third and last one was made with only a minute left in the match.
Against Matansa, Seoung Joon Lee drilled a goal in the 37th minute to give MP United a 1-0 halftime lead before Ho Jin Woo nailed the equalizer in the second half. The game against MP United was Matansa’s second this season after losing Tan Holding’s in the league opener, 2-4.
Wild Bill’s 3, KFAS 2
In the second game last Sunday, Wild Bill’s had its first match of the season and slipped past Korean Football Association on Saipan (0-1-1 win-draw-loss record).
New recruit Tanapon Unsa canned twin goals for Wild Bill’s, while Jeeraphon Thoensaket added one. Unsa put Wild Bill’s in the scoreboard with his penalty shot in the 10th minute and after KFAS tied the game off Dae Min Jeon’s goal 15 minutes later, Unsa hit his second goal for their 2-1 halftime advantage.
Thoensaket made it a 3-1 lead with his goal midway in the second half before Gil Kim Yeong cut the deficit to one, scoring his first and only goal with only one minute remaining in the match.
Paire 1, Inter 1
Paire failed to make a follow-up on its 5-0 demolition of SKY in Week 1 after settling for a draw against Inter Godfather’s in the opening game in Week 2.
William Dunn scored the lone goal for Paire and it came in the closing seconds of the second half, while Peter Loken lit up the scoreboard in the 40th minute.
The draw was the second in as many games for Inter, which tied KFAS in its opening match, 3-3.
This year’s spring league has nine teams with Tan Holdings FC completing the field and winning over Matansa in the opener on March 11, 4-2.
