Another scare involving a missing child was quashed yesterday after police found the child safe in a family member’s home. Police did not specify his age besides saying they were able to find him after a search around the village of Chalan Kanoa.

Saipan Tribune learned that the child left his home without alerting his guardians, and went to a family member’s house.

The child’s guardians were unable to find the child and called the Department of Public Safety to report a missing child around Chalan Kanoa at about 3:58pm yesterday. DPS officers were dispatched to the scene.

Officers later found the child at 5:20pm at a family member’s home. DPS debunked rumors of an attempted kidnapping. Word of the child’s disappearance earlier spread over social media on Wednesday.

This is the second case involving a missing child in the past two weeks, with the first being a 13-year-old female child being reported missing after reportedly helping with trick-or-treating activities in her village.

Police were able to find the female child the next day, as she was reportedly staying at a friend’s home and was found safe. Police did not specify why it took several hours to track her down.
