The 2020 Miss Marianas Pageant, which was originally scheduled for this summer, will now be held next year in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Miss International Pageant originally scheduled this October in Yokohama, Japan has also been postponed to next year.

Stellar Marianas, the islands’ nonprofit pageant and talent group, and host of the Marianas pageant, is appealing to the community for patience and assistance.

“We had to consider the health and safety of our contestants, volunteers, families and supporters and we are most thankful for the support we continue to receive from our major sponsors and our community so we may be able to continue to provide positive events and activities,” said Stellar Marianas national director Jaki Fujihira.

The current Miss Marianas, Shannon Sasamoto, who won the pageant in 2019, has volunteered to continue her reign and has lined up several community events and projects for the community. She helped sew over 200 face masks to donate to the Guardian Project and is launching the first Stellar Marianas National Costume Design Contest on Instagram. Miss Marianas Contestants, from 18 to 26 years old, considering to join the upcoming pageant, may send in an email for an application and packet to stellarqueens@gmail.com. (PR)
