Tickets are now on sale for September’s Green Gala, Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance’s largest fundraiser of the year.

With proceeds going towards the ongoing work to conserve the diverse natural resources of the region, this year is even more special, as MINA celebrates 12 years of working with communities to sustain the natural environment and ensure the island way of life.

The leading nonprofit conservation organization in the Commonwealth, MINA has successfully implemented various projects, including the Plastic Bag Challenge, Obyan Rehabilitation Project, Managaha Pride Campaign, Schools for Environmental Conservation workshops, Marine Debris Prevention Program, Tasi Watch Program, and Adopt-A-Bin Program, which has placed recycle bins at all the major beaches on the island.

This year’s Green Gala features a “Farm to Table” theme, which highlights locally produced vegetables, fruits, and meats, as well as local brew, wine, and spirits at a no-host bar. In addition to a wonderful dinner and a variety of beverages, the Green Gala will feature entertainment by local artists, highlights from MINA’s projects, a silent auction, and many other activities that promise a memorable evening.

Last year’s Green Gala was sold out, so organizers are encouraging those who plan to attend to buy their tickets early. The gala is slated for Sept. 15 at the Hibiscus Hall, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan; doors open at 6pm. Tickets for the Green Gala event are $75 per person, and can be purchased at the MINA office in Gualo Rai or from any of the volunteer board members. To become a sponsor and/or volunteer, and for more information on the Green Gala, or MINA’s various projects, contact 233-REEF (7333). (MINA)
