Military training in Dandan, FDM Warning Area 517

ASAN, Guam—Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 will conduct training from 11am to 11:55am on Aug. 19-22 at the Dandan-Malojloj training site in Inarajan. 

These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed, if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. The public should be advised that routine helicopter training, often accompanied with the use of blanks, can occur during these trainings.

The U.S. Air Force will conduct training from 10:30am to 2:30pm on Aug. 19-21 and Aug. 23 at the island of Farallon de Medinilla. 

The U.S. Navy will also conduct training from 5am to 10pm on Aug. 22 at the island of Farallon de Medinilla. 

This training supports aircrew combat readiness and is critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be within a 12-nautical-mile radius of the island, located in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Navy will conduct training from 7am to 4pm on Aug. 23 at Warning Area 517. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises.

W-517 is activated south of latitude 12° 40’ 00″N. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 is contained within the following coordinates: 13° 10″N/144° 30″E, 13° 10″N/144° 42″E, 12° 50″N/144° 45″E, 11° 00″N/144° 45″E, 11° 00″N/143° 00″E, 11° 45″N/143° 00″E, and 12° 50″N/144° 30″E.

It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. (PR)
