Mieko hosts kids triathlon Saturday

Saipan pro Mieko Carey will be holding a kids triathlon this Saturday at Marpi.

Registration starts at 7am, while the race begins at 7:30am at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool in Marpi. Entry fee is only $10 and the tournament will have three divisions.

For the 5 to 7 age group, the swim leg will have a distance of 100 meters, while the bike and run races will be 500m and 700m, respectively. In the 8 to 10 age group, there will be a 200m swim, 700m bike, and 800m run, while the distance for 11-and-above compettion will be 400m swim, 1400m bike, and 1,600m run.

The bike and run legs will take place around the pool with the participants tackling a few small hills. Kickboards will be allowed in the swim leg, while each participant must wear a helmet during the bike race.

Meanwhile, Carey thanked Mariana Resort for allowing her to use the swimming pool facility for the Saturday race.
