MHS Varsity, SSHS share lead

Marianas High School Varsity and the Saipan Southern High School are currently tied for the top spot in the 2019-2020 Public School System Interscholastic Girls High School Basketball League after notching two victories each last Tuesday at the MHS Gymnasium.

The Lady Dolphins improved to a 4-0 record after prevailing over Kagman High School and Mount Carmel School, while the Lady Rays had the same perfect mark following their triumph against MHS Junior Varsity, and Agape Christian School.

MHS Varsity’s pair of wins were both lopsided ones as it walloped Kagman in the first game, 34-6, and clobbered Mt. Carmel in the second, 30-6.

As for Saipan Southern, it struggled in its match opposite MHS Junior Varsity before pulling off a 16-13 win. For their second assignment, the Lady Rays had an easier time against Agape, 19-11.

In other results, Mt. Carmel had a split last Tuesday after outclassing Agape, 17-12, while Grace Christian Academy hammered Kagman, 18-4.

The Lady Knights are in second place in the team standings with their even 2-2 record, while GCA and Agape are tied for third and fourth with similar 1-2 slates.
