Maria Dalusong and Sabrina Pangelinan had a homerun each to help Marianas High School complete a 23-10 crushing of Mt. Carmel School in the finals of the 2014-2015 Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization girls softball last Friday at the Miguel Basa Pangelinan ball field.

MHS completed an undefeated season, winning their 10th straight game to clinch a third consecutive MISO girls’ softball crown.
The Lady Dolphins crushed the Saipan Southern High School Lady Manta Rays, 26-10, in the semifinals, while the MCS Lady Knights scored a come-from-behind 9-6 win over the Kagman High School Lady Ayuyus.
Dalusong, with no outs and MHS enjoying a 10-6 lead, blasted a bases-clearing inside-the-park homer to highlight the Lady Dolphins’ six-run third-inning barrage.
Franica Masga had a lead off walk, Levani Shiro followed with a single, and Julie Ann Reyes walked to load up the bases setting up Dalusong’s round-tripper.
Dalusong went 3-for-5 with a pair of singles, four runs, and had four RBIs, while Pangelinan, who also scored four times, had a solo shot in the second inning.
Jennifer Dela Cruz was tagged with eight earned runs on six hits while striking out four batters and walking four more.
She quickly retired Karleen Reyes after forcing the Mt. Carmel infielder to pop out, which was caught by third baseman Julie Ann Reyes for the first out.
Dela Cruz then struck out Jan Travilla swinging, then ended the game when Quina Flores flied out to left fielder Jodeen Frederick.
Dela Cruz also threw seven wild pitches and hit six batters by pitch where MCS scored twice in a bases-loaded sixth inning.
Mt. Carmel also committed 14 errors in the game, which also failed to help their cause.
MHS defeated Saipan Southern High School in 2012, 17-16, to win its first softball crown and duplicated the feat against the Lady Mantas, 9-7, last year. SSHS was the inaugural champion in 2008 and was the champion until 2010.
