The Marianas High School and Saipan International School boys varsity soccer teams both won their matches last Tuesday during the continuation of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

MHS is now undefeated and atop the standings with four wins after their brother junior varsity team lost against them via forfeit, while SIS silenced Mount Carmel School, 4-0.

The Geckos’ Daniel Nam opened the game in the 12th minute as the Knights still fumbled with their footing. In the meantime, Nam’s teammate, Ian Song, scored a goal five minutes later for a 2-0 lead.

Song then sang the same old song not three minutes later for the Geckos’ third goal, while the fourth and last goal went the way the first goal came—by way of Nam’s cleats.

The Geckos are in second place with a 3-1-1 card, while the Knights are in fourth place with a 2-2 record behind Saipan Southern High School’s 2-1-1 card.

With the forfeit, MHS junior varsity is now out of playoff contention, while SSHS junior varsity have yet to win with three losses.
