MHS enters 7 teams in beach v-ball league

Marianas High School is fielding seven teams in the 2020-2021 Public School System Interscholastic 4v4 Beach Volleyball League.

As rosters for the competition have been completed in time for this Saturday’s opening, MHS listed four squads for the women’s division and three in the men’s. Grace Christian Academy and Saipan International School have also turned in their lineups, joining early birds Agape Christian School and Mt. Carmel School.

Siblings Aiko and Nichko Rasiang, Fatima Monterubrio, Madelleen Narcico, and Nathanette Blas will suit up for MHS 1, while MHS 2 will have Raylynn Singa, Varelei and Vinalei Hapdei, Sydney Hinds, Arisa Custodio, and Kepina Tababa. Rayna Deleon Guerrero, Abigail Decena, Katrina Costales, Jenisha Dubral, Sherry Zhu, and Deajah Benavente will play for MHS 3, while MHS 4 will lean on Jillian Ferrer, Ale’a Duenas, Sheenah Gatdula, Ikeesha Aquininoc, Lyena Dela Cruz, and Alianna Sublemente.

The Lady Dolphins, who will be coached by Lauren Celis and Tyce Mister, will be up against two teams each from GCA and SIS. Anna Nunez, Kim and Katrina Dilse, Clerisse Dacumos, Aubrey Castro, and Yupapan Karsuaythong are on GCA 1, while GCA 2 members include Katriel Saures, Soleil Lamar, Hye Jin Elliot, Vicky Wang, and Audrey Castro. SIS 1 has Serin Chung, Julianne Hall, Cevina Hwang, Guy Yeon Kim, and MayryZon Tybaco on its roster, while SIS 2 lineup has Tiana Cabrera, Seiyul Hong, Stephanie Kim, SeoHee Lee, Claire Park, and HeyonBo Shim.

The opening games in the women’s division will be played at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan sand courts, starting at 8:15am. The first set of matches will have GCA 1 taking on MCS 2; GCA 2 battling MHS 1; SIS 1 facing MHS 2; and SIS 2 meeting MHS 3.

In the men’s division, which will kick off on Jan 30, MHS 1 has Nilo Calimag, Jasper Perez, Blake Mister, John Justo, Raiki Tababa, and Akira Kadokura on its roster. Troy Laniyo, Jigger Parayaoan, Praise Woo, Ronian Laxamana, and William Arriola are the members of MHS 2, while MHS 3 listed Fael Pagaduan, John Bayking, Erwin Aguirre, Bengee Berdan, Raymond Deleon Guerrero, and Sunny Kaipat on its lineup.

GCA has only one team in the men’s field and the Eagles will bank on William Kim, Steven Balakrishna, Ryan Daproza, Anthony Deleon Guerrero, Christian Pamintuan, and Akira Ota.

SIS is fielding two squads with Frederic Guintu, Gaeul Kim, Kwang Ko Lim, Woon Woo and Yun Woo Nam, Jason Sablan, and Sean Lee on SIS 1 and Matthew Berline, Andrew Chung, Hyun Min Cho, Deon Yeon Kang, Seung Hyun Kim, Jessie Sablan, and Kuu Nishimura included on SIS 2 roster.

Rota and Tinian are also competing, but won’t be seeing action in the preliminary matches, as they will automatically move into the playoff round.
