The Marianas Golf Association will hold its August Ace of the Month on Saturday, Sept. 19, with tee time set at 10am at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort.

MGA president J.J. Atalig is encouraging all of their members and at the same time reminding all Ace of the Month winners to come and participate in their monthly event.

“For those who have won ace of the month between January and July to meet their required games to qualify for Ace of Aces at the end of the year,” said Atalig, who added that showtime is at 9am.

Harry Nakamura (January), Calvin Yamagishi (February), Jess Seman (March), Martin Naputi (April), Jenny Hegland, (May), Chandler DeLoatch, (June), and Jay Muna (July) are the Ace of the Month winners.

MGA secretary Geri Dela Cruz added that they were not in control of things that happened after Typhoon Soudelor forced all golf courses on the island to halt their operations.

“We’re one month behind because of the typhoon but we feel we can squeeze it [September Ace of the Month] sometime in October,” Dela Cruz said.

Both Atalig and Dela Cruz said membership is still open and is encouraging members of the community to join.

MGA was established three years ago and now has 30 active members made up of young and senior, rookies and veterans, and men and women CNMI residents who enjoy playing golf.

The group, recently, also made a donation of $500 to join other local organizations in a fundraising drive for school supplies by public elementary school students.

Joey Dela Cruz (vice president), James Benavente (treasurer), Chandler DeLoatch (tournament director), and Jerry Ayuyu (handicap chairman) join Atalig and Geri Dela Cruz as officers of MGA.
