Memorial Day at the AMP

Share

In observance of Memorial Day, American Memorial Park will honor all those who died serving in America’s armed forces during the World War II Marianas Campaign.

Park staff is inviting community partners and volunteers to help light over 500 luminaria leading up to the Court of Honor. The luminaria will be lit on Sunday evening, May 28, 2017, and remain lit on Memorial Day.

The community is invited to participate:

• May 28 from 3pm to 6pm: Volunteer to help lay out the luminaria display and to place a luminaria in front of the Court of Honor to remember the fallen. A table will be set up with materials to personalize a luminaria; LED tea lights will be provided.

• May 28-29: Take time to remember those who gave their lives in service of our country. Visit the Court of Honor, which is inscribed with the names of over 5,000 servicemen who were killed or missing in action during WWII. At sunset, pay tribute to our fallen in the glow of over 500 luminaria, each of which represents 10 names inscribed on the Court of Honor. (NPS)
