Members sought for private schools’ coalition

The Commonwealth Coalition of Private Schools is having a membership drive. Schools that would like to join the coalition will need to provide the necessary paperwork for the Compliance Committee to review. The required documents are a current business license, a copy of the school’s current curriculum, and an anonymous list of current faculty assignments and their qualifications.

In order to encourage private schools to become members of the coalition, the coalition’s board of directors had waived the membership fee for the current 2016-2017 school year.

Documents may be submitted via email to coalition president Galvin Deleon Guerrero at galvin.deleonguerrero@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is Friday, Nov. 4.

According to its mission statement, “The Commonwealth Coalition of Private Schools endeavors to protect the right to autonomy and self-government of its member private schools. It also determines to safeguard the representation of its member schools’ interests in the consideration, development, and implementation of government laws and regulations. It further seeks to encourage and promote the wide diversity and variety of educational services offered by private schools.  The coalition also endeavors to safeguard parents’ rights to choose the educational program that would fulfill the unique needs of their children. Furthermore, it desires to ensure that high academic standards are maintained by member schools.”

If you would like more information about the coalition, contact Deleon Guerrero at galvin.deleonguerrero@gmail.com.
