Megino hands Matansa first win

Anton Megino scored a hat trick to lift Matansa Football Club to a 3-0 win over TanHoldings Football Club in their co-ed U12 division match in the NMIFA Summer Youth League 2021 last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Megino hit the board in the 18th, 25th, and 35th minute to give Matansa its first win in four games. Matansa earned a pair of draws and had one loss in its first three matches. TanHoldings, on the other hand, absorbed its third defeat against only one victory.

In other results in the division, Paire also blanked Kanoa, 4-0, while Shirley’s topped MP United FC, 5-3.

Rodney Tomei, Jazzroy and Jayten Villagomez, and Justidy Mizutani delivered the goals for Paire, which kept the No. 1 spot in the team standings after improving to a 4-0-0 win-draw-loss record. Kanoa has yet to win this season and is at the bottom of the ladder.

Shirley’s moved up from third to second place in the rankings with its 2-1-1 slate following a victory over MP United, which dropped to a 2-0-2 mark.

Bennet Haro and Branson Santos fired two goals apiece for Shirley’s, while Frank Lumanlang drilled one. MP United’s three goals were all courtesy of Tai Namai-Scoggins.

GIRLS U15 DIVISION
Southern United 14, Kanoa-2 1

Southern United hammered Kanoa in the third game in the division.

Pia Ngewakl was on fire for Southern United, as she recorded seven goals. Elizabeth Babauta, Rosie Saralu, and Megan Elayda chipped in two goals apiece, while Vaniqa Torres contributed one. Kanoa’s lone goal came from Elikristia Iglecias.

TanHoldings 8, Kanoa-1 1
TanHoldings also cruised to victory last weekend.

Rizza Relucio made four goals for TanHoldings, which drew a pair from Audrey Castro and one each from Kaithlyn Chavez and Mia Abuan. Kanoa got its only goal in the lopsided match from Keziah Manabat.

Shirley’s 1, Paire 1
Paire forced a draw with Shirley’s in the curtain-raiser in the division.

Miranda Borja drilled the equalizer for Paire in the 44th minute, 12 minutes after Stacy Arriola gave Shirley’s the precarious lead early in the second half.

BOYS U15 DIVISION
Kanoa 6, Paire 1

Kanoa notched its fourth win in as many games after dominating Paire in the first game in the division.

The undefeated squad spread the wealth with six different players scoring against Paire. Markus Toves started Kanoa’s offense with his goal in the fourth minute, while Leland Deleon Guerrero, Vicente Reyes, Silvestre Ilo, Isaiah Ray Jolo, and Ruben Guerrero delivered the next five goals. Zhi Lin was the lone scorer for Paire.

Matansa 5, TanHoldings 1
Matansa notched its second straight win after outclassing TanHoldings.

Philip Megino knocked in a pair of goals for Matansa, while Jerome Mettao, Isaiah Hossain, and Pritom Sen chipped in one each. Daniel Sano made the only goal for TanHoldings.
