BARRIGADA HEIGHTS, Guam—A powerhouse lineup of judges and supporters composed of female leaders from the business community attended a meet-and-greet luncheon last March 22 at the Hyatt Regency Guam to learn more about the eight 2019 Guam Business Magazine Businesswoman of the Year nominees and hear firsthand their successes and contributions.

Past winners and attendees congratulated and encouraged the nominees.

Since 2006, the Guam Business Magazine’s Businesswoman of the Year program, through proceeds from its annual gala, has awarded a total of $274,260 in scholarships to 139 students in the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.

The eight 2019 nominees join 119 others from Guam and the CNMI who in the past 13 years have been recognized through the program for making significant contributions to their industries and demonstrating a strong commitment to their community.

The 2019 nominees are:

Jessica M. Barrett, president, Barrett Enterprises Inc., which does business as Barrett Plumbing;

Frances O. Baumann, owner and president, Baumann Advertising;

Jessica R. Leon Guerrero, president and owner, M80 Systems Inc., and brand manager, Island Wines & Spirits;

Chen Yu Mack, president and CEO, StayWell Insurance, and owner, Evergreen Health Center and Evergreen Pharmacy and Supplies;

Caroline H. Sablan, vice president and relationship banking manager, Bank of Guam;

Rose A. Soledad, general manager, IT&E CNMI;

Pacita A. Tomada, president and general manager, National Car Rental, and owner, SureStay Hotel by Best Western; and

Vanessa L. Williams, attorney at law and owner, Law Office of Vanessa Williams PC.

The 2019 Businesswoman of the Year award will be presented at the Businesswoman of the Year gala on April 27 at the Hyatt Regency Guam in conjunction with the release of the Guam Business Magazine’s May-June issue, which will feature a commissioned photo of the recipient on its cover.

The winner will join the previous Businesswoman of the Year award recipients, including Shirley Ann T. Sablan, executive vice president and general manager, Pacifica Insurance Underwriters Inc. (2014).
