Younis Art Studio, Inc., which runs the newspaper Marianas Variety, has agreed to be a sponsor of this year’s Green Gala.
Laila Younis-Boyer, Younis Art Studio president, expressed their company’s support of the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance, which hosts the Green Gala.
“It is our company’s continual vision to be responsible stewards of our community and we gladly support the efforts of MINA and its programs that have lasting positive effects on our environment and encourage active social engagement from all our stakeholders. Thank you, MINA, we appreciate all that you do,” said Boyer.
MINA continues to be the “eyes and ears” of the ocean with its Tasi Watch program, and their rangers are out every week doing surveillance of the crucial watershed areas, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the recycling bins in MINA’s Adopt-a-Bin program.
MINA strives to build on the culture of recycling, and stages outreach and education programs throughout the year at various public events to spread the word about the need to keep our land and sea litter free.
MINA also develops programs that focuses on school-aged children, and has implemented the Schools for Environmental Conservation, wherein students and their advisors learn about and initiate their own conservation action plans on their school campuses.
The annual Green Gala, which is critical in raising much needed funds to keep these programs viable, will happen on Friday, Sept. 14, at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan. Parking is available to guests at the American Memorial Park. Call 233-7333 for more information. (MINA)
