Expanding academic opportunities for both students and teachers, Mount Carmel School was recently approved to create a TED-Ed Club, opening more educational resources for students and teachers to discuss, debate, and explore ideas.

Through the club, students will develop skills in identifying the elements of a great idea; how to research, develop, and present an idea; tell a compelling story; and provide and receive feedback effectively.

“We are glad to have received the approval to establish a TED-Ed Club at Mount Carmel School,” said MCS president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero. “One of the great things about the TED-Ed clubs is that it’s completely free and there are no costs to students, parents, or teachers.

“At MCS we want our students to feel empowered to take on real-life challenges and share their ideas to create real and holistic solutions,” said MCS principal Barbara Merfalen. “We’re excited to see what challenges and ideas our TED-Ed participants will take on this school year.”

The TED-Ed clubs program was developed by TED and provides a forum for students to develop, present and record their own original ideas in the form of short, TED Talk-style presentations.
