McFun 5K Run draws 200-plus runners
More than 200 runners participated in the Rotary Club of Saipan’s 6th Annual McFun 5K Run last Feb. 22, according to club president Marcia Ayuyu last Tuesday.
Speaking at the club’s weekly meeting at Hyatt Regency Saipan last Tuesday, Ayuyu said a total of 259 runners took part in the event, involving 215 pre-registered adults, six pre-registered under 19, 24 walk-in adults, and 14 walk-in under 19.
The 5-kilometer run started at the Carolinian Utt in Garapan and had its turnaround at the Star Water Co.
“It was an amazing turnout! I am very grateful for the sponsors and staffs for the successful event, thank you very much!” said Ayuyu.
TanHoldings Corp. and McDonald’s Saipan were the event’s main sponsors. The others sponsors were Duty-Free Shoppers, Megabyte, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Bank of Guam, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Bridge Capital, Micronesian Broker, D&Q, Kanoa Resort, Pacific Islands Club, Laolao Bay Golf and Resort, Grandvrio Resort, Aqua Resort, National Office Supply, Matson, Yaong, Century Hotel, I Love Saipan, Marpac, Great Harvest Bakery, Pacific Trading, Coca Cola, Triple J Wholesale, and iShop.
Ayuyu also thanked Robin Sapong, secretary general of the Northern Marianas Athletics, and his team for keeping track of the runners’ time.
The Rotary Club started its McFun 5K Run in 2015 and is now on its sixth year. Ayuyu also announced at the meeting that their inaugural Rotary Easter Egg Hunt set for April 4 at Sugar King Park. More information will be announced later. (Krizel Tuazon)
