McDonald’s Saipan donated $5,000 last Friday to the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter for its 2019 Club 200 fundraiser that is happening this Saturday, Oct.12, at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan in Garapan.
The fundraiser is the NMI Chapter’s 30th annual event.
“We are just really excited to have McDonald’s again is one of our major donors,” ARC-NMI Chapter executive director John Hirsh said. “They have been there for us annually during our fundraising events, especially this past year, during [Super] Ttyphoon Yutu.”
When Yutu happened in late October 2018, McDonald’s Saipan stepped up and donated a lot of food to people that were vulnerable and in need, Hirsh said, and donated a tremendous amount of financial resources to the Red Cross. The resources enabled the Red Cross to help the families that were impacted by the storm.
McDonald’s also feels a “deep connection and feeling” to the Red Cross.
“Without any questions, we always jump at the opportunity to donate to the Red Cross,” McDonald’s Saipan executive secretary Mable Ayuyu said. “We have been doing it for so many years, because not only do they help the community, but they [also] personally touched the lives of our employees especially during the past two super typhoons.”
Ayuyu added that McDonald’s Saipan is grateful to donate to the Red Cross again. “We always look forward to [Club 200]. They always put on a really, really great and fun event.
“We hope the community goes out and support them, because they are not just raising funds for the Red Cross, but raising funds to help out every single person [in the CNMI],” she added.
This year’s Club 200, themed “Latin Nights,” celebrates the diversity of all the countries in Latin America. There will be a salsa and costume contests, as well as other fun activities. This year’s grand prize is a brand new 2019 RAV4 LE donated by Atkins Kroll Saipan.
Tickets are $100 for general admission and $150 for VIP tickets, and are available at all Joeten locations, Herman’s Bakery, AK Toyota, or call the chapter at 234-3459 for a list of sellers near you.
